Casey is a female Orang-utan. She is no ordinary ape; she is a primate that has been taught the American Sign Language by her owner trainer Dolly McKeever (played by the Academy Award winning actress Louise Fletcher). This means that Casey can communicate and knows over 600 signs and words. However, when Dolly has an unfortunate car crash. Casey suddenly finds herself a lost and lonely runaway. That is, until she reaches the Wyler Farm in Salem Oregon. There live 10 year old deaf Toby and his younger sister Jill. Both are fluent in the American Sign Language. In their private hideaway a little tree-house, unbeknown to their parents, an amazing relationship begins. A love story between a remarkable deaf boy and an incredible animal.
