Chris Hunter (Clark Gable) is a stop at nothing newsreel reporter. While in Shanghai doing reports on the Chinese-Japanese war, he meets pilot Alma Harding (Myrna Loy). At first, she doesn't trust him, but by talking his boss into funding Alma's search for her Brother lost in the South American jungle, he manages to win her round. Until his real reason, to out scoop his rival (Walter Pidgon) throws a spanner into the works.
