Melanie Brooke starts temping as a secretary to power hungry Margaret Bateman and soon attracts the attentions of company President Tom Henley. Tom has had many affairs, so with suspicions aroused his wife Christine hires the services of private detective Jonah Slide. Melanie accepts Tom's invitation to dinner at the corporate apartment, but refuses his advances. Telling Tom she cannot get involved with a married man, she rushes from the apartment. Moments later Tom opens the door to an unexpected visitor, a visitor that becomes his murderer.Jonah has done his job well, he has photographed the evenings events. He gives Christine the incriminating shots of her husband with Melanie and is left with evidence that can, with a little blackmail, make him rich.
