THE BLUE LAMP, Dirk Bogarde, in Color.
THE BLUE LAMP.
Starring
Jack Warner, Dirk Bogarde, Jimmy Hanley & Bernard Lee.
NOW IN COLOR.
Filmed in and around Paddington, London in 1949. The story centres around two beat Bobbies, one near retirement (Jack Warner) the other a young fresh constable (Jimmy Hanley). Two local hoodlums, one played by a young Dirk Bogarde in an early starring role. Hold up a Cinema at gunpoint, witnessed by an exiting couple who raise the alarm, answered by PC George Dixon (Jack Warner) who is shot during the escape.
Bernard Lee ("M" from the early Bond films) plays the senior CID detective.
Colorizing this movie has made it fascinating. With great shots of how London looked only a couple of years after the end of World War II. Very different from how London looks today.
Despite being killed off in the movie, Jack Warner reprised the role of PC George Dixon on TV in the very long-running “Dixon of Dock Green”.
Originally filmed in Black and White, we have colorized it.
