For the unrelentingly cheerful Rachel (Farrow), Christmas with her beloved family was the cheeriest time of all. But this year, her husband Tom (Tony Goldwyn) has a little Yuletide surprise for Rachel: he's hired a hitman to do her in! Fleeing into the snowy night, Rachel embarks on a hilarious comic odyssey that leads her first into the home of a suspiciously sympathetic social worker (Glenn) and his doting wife (Mary-Louise Parker). When more murderous holiday mayhem forces Rachel to hit the road again, she commences a 50-state quest for sanity self-identity and the Santa Claus of her dreams. Until finally, her wanderings lead her into the care of an eccentric skidrow nun (Eileen Brennan), whose shocking past may hold the key to Rachel's unlikely future!
