Paul Sherman of InterpoI’s narcotics bureau arrives in Amsterdam to investigate a gang of heroin smugglers. His fellow agent/contact is shot dead before Sherman can be briefed on the progress made. Picking up the pieces, he meets with the Dutch police who are not making any headway in stopping the flow of drugs to the United States. ln a plot full of twists and turns in true Alistair Maclean style, Sherman finally manages to close in on the ‘top man' after a breathtaking speedboat chase through the canals of Amsterdam.
