Loretta Young enjoyed an extraordinary long Hollywood career. Here we offer two of her movies from the 1930s PRIVATE NUMBER and LIFE BEGINS, both in color.

Details:

LORETTA YOUNG
1913 - 2000
DOUBLE FEATURE

Enjoyed one of the longest Hollywood careers starring in over 100 films starting in 1917 to her last TV movie in 2018.

PRIVATE NUMBER
aka Secret Interlude.
(1936)
NOW IN COLOR.

Starring
Loretta Young, Robert Taylor and Basil Rathbone.

A young woman searching for work takes a job as a maid for a rich family. Intrigue follows as a butler schemes to make the attractive newcomer his own. Only to be foiled by the wealthy son's attraction to her. They fall in love, secretly marry, and the maid finds she is pregnant. Twist of fate complicates the storyline as the butler seeks revenge for his rejection. He tells all to the family in the hopes of ending the marriage.

LIFE BEGINS.
(1932)
NOW IN COLOR

Starring
Loretta Young, Eric Linden, Glenda Farrell and a very young Gilbert Roland.

At a maternity hospital, future fathers pace the corridors while their wives wait for their babies either anxiously or happily. Efficient and compassionate nurse Miss Bowers keeps the ward running smoothly. Things liven up when Grace Sutton (Loretta Young) is transferred from the prison where she is being held for murder. Most agree that the man she killed deserved to die, and Nurse Bowers sympathetically allows Grace's concerned husband Jed (Eric Linden) unlimited time with his wife. On the ward, the women have varied feelings about motherhood. Mrs. West, mother of six children, thinks babies are what give meaning to women's lives. In contrast, Florette ( Glenda Farrell), a showgirl, just wants to get rid of her twins as soon as possible.

I found this movie a surprising insight with the attitudes into childbirth in the 1930s.

We have colorized both these movies and both are included on this DVD
