LIFE LOVE DEATH.
La vie, L'amour, La mort
(1969)
Stars
Amidou, Caroline Cellier, Marcel Bozzuffi and Catherine Samie.
A very powerful French movie, we have added English subtitles too.
Capital punishment by means of the Guillotine was still in use in France as late as 1977. This movie was made in 1969 as a protest to the use of such a barbaric punishment.
"Life, Love, Death" was made before the abolition of capital punishment in France. Its central message is the inhumanity of the guillotine. The film, which is shot somewhat in a cinéma vérité style, divides roughly into three acts. In Act One, there is a series of murders of prostitutes in Paris. An obviously deeply disturbed man is hiring these prostitutes and then strangling them. Suspicion falls on François (Amidou), a married man with a child. The police put him under surveillance.
Filmed in both color and, Black and white for the prison and execution scenes.
WARNING
The movie opens with a very graphic scene of a Bull Fight.
As well as English, we have added optional subtitles in French, Spanish and Dutch.
