Mr. Radfern (Edmund Gwenn) is a respectable businessman and pillar of the community, when his impoverished in-laws move in expecting handouts to invest in business ventures. Mr. Radfern springs a surprise, telling his deadbeat Brother-law Baxley (Cedric Hardwicke) that really he is a master criminal and forger. Resulting in the in-laws panicking and doing their best to distance themselves from Radfern.
Based on a very funny play by J.B. Priestley, directed by Carol Reed who would go on to direct such greats as “The Third Man” and “Oliver!” And starring Edmund Gwenn (Miracle on 34th Street) and Cedric Hardwicke (later Sir Cedric Hardwicke)
