In 1959 two British comedies based around national service were competing against each other this one "Idol on Parade" starring the once child actor who became a "Pop Star" becoming the second husband of "Joan Collins" and later a international star Anthony Newley, the other one, the first of the "Carry On" franchise "Carry on Sergeant" starring "Bob Monkhouse" and "William Hartnell" who four years later would become the very first "Dr Who"
