A scientific expedition to a remote, uncharted island in the Pacific is searching for a team of atomic scientists who vanished there without a trace. Led by Dr. Karl Weigand, the new team quickly discovers a horrifying secret: the island is shrinking due to a series of powerful underwater earthquakes. But an even greater threat lurks beneath the surface. Giant, intelligent crabs, mutated by atomic radiation from the original scientists' experiments, have developed a telepathic link to their victims, absorbing their knowledge and memories before devouring them.
